Talk:Lunation Number
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This isn't right. The "lunation number" is the serial number of the new moon since some agreed starting date, not the period of a lunation. Several different starting dates have been used. Article needs review by an astronomer. --Nagle 07:54, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- You are certainly right that lunation number is not the number of days in a month. I corrected it and added a link for a recent table. Thank you for keeping an eye on my mistakes. I was working on WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles and unfortunately misinterpreted my readings on a subject not very familiar to me. I am keeping the expert sign on the page. þħɥʂıɕıʄʈʝɘɖı 23:27, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Removed the "expert" tag; more info might be nice, but not immediately essential. Different groups seem to use different starting dates for lunation numbers; I've seen 1900 and 2000 as well as 1923. But I don't know if there are standards, or who uses what. Despite that, the basics have now been covered. --John Nagle 23:43, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
