Lunas is a town in the state of Kedah, Malaysia.

Lunas is only 45 minutes out of Penang, and lies between Butterworth and Kulim, the latter being the location of a hi-tech park and an industrial park, and thus the thriving machinery of modern development in the area – which explains the smoky crawl on the thoroughfare.

The town with all its old shophouses was pretty much founded and developed in the 1900s' by Chinese.

There still are many well-preserved gems such as shop houses, a traditional “wooden bungalow on stilts” post office and the colonial-style Soon Cheng Sai mansion. Plus, the famous “living heritage” of Lunas’ roast duck rice. Another interesting tourist attraction is the horizontal chimney inside rubber smokehouses.

Lunas last claim to fame was Barisan Nasional’s by-election defeat on Nov 29, 2000, where Parti Keadilan Rakyat Supreme Council member Saifuddin Nasution Ismail won a Kedah state assembly seat with a simple majority of 530.

Lunas's lagest school is sekolah menengah kebangsaan lunas ,which has about 1600 students complete with high tech self cleaning anti bacterial toilets computer and server room ,firing range ,golf course and teachers smoking room complete with vending machines and a 50 inch plasma tv

Lunas is a town more than 100 years old. In year 2009 will celebrate its 120 Years old. It is multi races small town. Indian is the largest population in Lunas. Most of the Chinese stay at Lunas Street & residence area near by to Lunas town. Malay stay at near by residence area & village. Indian stay at estate & Residence area as well.

In Lunas only have one main street. The main street almost 90% is shop & some convert to residence house. Lunas have 2 wet market, one is old wet market located at the main street. Another 1 is new wet market located at Sg Seluang.

Lunas have 3 main school. Sekolah Rendar Jenis Kebangsaan China Hwa Min, 1 Malay primary school, & Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Lunas.

Although is small but full with mystery. For Taoist Lunas is "Gate of Hell & Heaven". Lunas been famous with "Wen Mi" (Call the solve of the pass away people to ask for something) & "Fortune Teller".

Besides that, Lunas also famous with Thai Buddhist Temple next to cemetery Lunas. Every time have any celebration the people from Kuala Lumpur , Butterworth, Penang, Singapore and etc will go to the temple and celebrate.
