Luna is a fashion house based in Pozarevac, Serbia. It started in 1990, as a two member family firm: a mother and a daughter. Since then Luna is experiencing constant growth and stand today as a one of the leading fashion trademarks in South-East Europe, directly and indirectly employing more than thousand people in the women ready-made clothes industry sector.[1] The company uses imported raw materials from Italy and France, local labour force, and possesses ISO 9000 process quality standard. The leader of the international designer team is Danijela Milovanovic. The company finds the market for its fashion collections in all major Serbian towns and exports to Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Canada and other countries.[2]
Being situated in Serbia makes Luna price competitive on the market. In 2007 Luna experienced 40% growth and internal analysts predict at least the same growth in 2008.[3]
[edit] Luna's Business Model
Luna has developed a unique business model, partly on which the company owes its continuous growth. Their model is based on individual stores that sell the Luna brand. A matrix of individual and privately held stores is a preferred way of the company's market exposure, in the home country and on foreign markets. These stores are then given special incentives for expanding on the business on their respectful markets. Although the model was criticized by some business schools for losing touch with the values of the brand, the company employed techniques for preventing it, like partial control on the marketing management within the different markets, while keeping the flexibility that the model provides for various accounts.
