Lumeta Corporation is a private company that is headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, which develops network discovery appliances. Lumeta's flagship product is sold under the brand name of IPsonar.

The first generation of Lumeta's IPsonar appliance was developed in 1998 by Bell Labs scientists. Their goal was to determine the boundaries and contents of the Internet. This effort is now known as the Internet Mapping Project. Read a Wall Street Journal article on the 10-year anniversary: [1]

Lumeta spun off from Bell Labs in 2000 and used the original technology as a basis for creating the company's product IPsonar.

IPsonar has several components, including modules that find network assets and their connections, show all IP addresses, find devices with inbound or outbound connectivity to the Internet or sub-networks, and detect IT services, wireless access points, and operating system information.

Lumeta is a privately-held company that is run by a board of directors whose members are as follows: Tom B. Dent (Chairman of the Board), Ross H. Goldstein, Frank Pinto, Scot Sedlacek, and Thomas M. Uhlman. The company’s investors include Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham Ventures, New Venture Partners LLC, RBC Technology Ventures Inc., and Wachovia Strategic Ventures
