Luis Gerardo Oliveros (born June 18, 1983 in Guatire, Miranda State, Venezuela) is a Minor League Baseball catcher in the Seattle Mariners organization, currently playing for the Double-A West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx. Oliveros has played the majority of his six seasons with the Mariners club in the minors. Primarily in Single-A and Double-A.
Oliveros was called up to the majors for a day prior to the 2006 All-Star Break, as Mariners catcher Kenji Johjima wanted to go home a day early. Rene Rivera started the game and Oliveros never got into the game. A day later he was removed from the 40-man roster. When no one claimed him, he was assigned to Single-A Inland Empire again. Later he was recalled to Double-A San Antonio. When Guillermo Quiroz was injured late in the 2006 season, Oliveros became the everyday catcher for the Double-A San Antonio Missions. Oliveros ended 2006 with just five RBI in 153 at bats in the Texas League in 2006.
On September 14, 2006, Oliveros was announced as the bullpen catcher for the Mariners for the remainder of the 2006 season. Oliveros became a free agent after the World Series.
Oliveros played in the Venezulan Winter League during the winter of 2006. In March 2007, Oliveros was invited to spring training by the Mariners, but he didn't make the team and spent the entire season with the Double-A West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx. He started 2008 again with Double-A, but did play one game in Triple-A before being demoted again to Double-A.
