Lucas Castromán is an Argentine football midfielder. He was born on October 2, 1980, in the city of Luján in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. He is currently playing with Boca Juniors having joined the club on loan from Club América. He is a wide player or forward renowned for his pace.
Castromán began his professional career with Vélez Sársfield in 1997, his consistent performances in midfield winning him a lucrative transfer to S.S. Lazio in the Italian Serie A in 2001. In 2003 he was loaned to fellow Italians Udinese before returning to Vélez in 2004.
Castromán, a firm favourite with the Vélez fans, reinforced his place in the history of the club by helping the team to win the Primera Division Clausura tournament in 2005 after the clubs run of 7 years without a trophy.
After differences with Velez Sarsfield coach, Ricardo Lavolpe, Castroman decided it was time to change teams joining Club América of Mexico.
On December 5, 2007 Castroman came on as a substitute after 88 minutes of the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana 2007 against Arsenal de Sarandí of Argentina. Within a minute he was sent off for pushing an opponent.
After only six months with Club América he was transfer listed on December 17, 2007 putting an end to his time with the club where injuries, poor physical condition and poor discipline on and off the field led to his departure. He was loaned to Boca for $1,050,000 USD.
