[edit] Inconsistency

The caption for this photo reports that Stalin ordered the churches on Lubyanka to be demolished in order to make way for the KGB headquarters.

  • firstly, the organization finally called the KGB was called either the Checka or the NKVD in Stalin's time
  • secondly, the article on Lubyanka indicates that the building was built before the bolshevik revolution, in order to house an insurance company. If this is true, Stalin could not order the churches demolition to make way for the building, since he held no state power until after the revolution.

I would also add that the Lubyanka structure is clearly classical and not Soviet in architecture. Is it possible that we are getting confused with the destruction of Cathedral of Christ the Savior? Iluvcapra 05:22, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
