...Based on Al Gore??? Al Gore was 22 when this movie came out! He had no political career back then

there is a passage in al franken's book "Lies and the lying liars..." that explains this. It's a really complicated and really boring anecdote that involves a bunch of comments taken multiple levels out of context; he cites it because he views it as one of the many unfounded ways Gore was made to look ridiculous during the campaign.
