Louisiana "The Original" Hot Sauce is a pepper sauce produced by Bruce Foods, a Cajun and Mexican food company. Bruce Foods was founded in 1928 in New Iberia, Louisiana. Louisiana "The Original" Hot Sauce is a typical cayenne pepper sauce similar to Crystal Hot Sauce, Texas Pete, Frank's Red Hot, and another sauce from New Iberia, Trappey's Hot Sauce. It is made from aged peppers, vinegar, and salt. It is bright red and thin with a moderate heat level. Louisiana Hot Sauce is not as hot as Tabasco sauce or most gourmet hot sauces, and the company uses the milder heat as a selling point, calling the sauce "Not too hot, not too mild." Bruce Foods created a second brand to satisfy those with a preference for the heat level of Tabasco sauce, producing Louisiana Gold Hot Sauce to face more squarely against McIlhenny Company's more popular brand.

Louisiana "The Original" is most common in 6 oz. shaker bottles labeled ©BRUCE FOODS CORP MCMLXXVI (1976), and is known for its yellow, blue, and red label and yellow plastic safety seal adorned with the "Original" logo.
