Louisiana Highway 642 (LA 642) is a state highway in Louisiana which serves St. James Parish. It spans 3.79 miles in a south to north direction.

LA 642 begins at an intersection with LA 44 (River Road) west of Lutcher. It heads north and intersects LA 3125 roughly a mile and a half later. Following a brief westward jog, the highway continues in a general northward direction before coming to an end in the community of Grand Point. The local road that follows ends shortly thereafter.
It is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entirety.
