[edit] Plot summary
The book is about Thrall's journey from a slave, to becoming a gladiator and finally warchief of the orcish Horde. The main villain of the book is Aedelas Blackmoore, who commands the encampments where the orcs were imprisoned, and also Thrall's (thrall means slave to humans) former owner. Blackmoore's plans where to raise Thrall to command an orcish army to over run the Alliance. he was to learn how to handle every weapon, and learn battle tactics, not primaraly writing and history, but he did learn little of that. Thrall escaped Blackmoore's tyranny with the help of a young human girl named Taretha. She would sneak notes to Thrall and was one of his only friends while in the grasp of Blackmoore. He then set out to find a group of orcs that had evaded Blackmoore. He found these orcs to be the Warsong Clan, led by Grom Hellscream. He then went to the mountains to find his original home, the Frostwolf Clan. There, he met with their shaman, who taught Thrall the ancient ways of his people. There he met with the Warchief-Orgrim Doomhammer and learnt of his past and his parents' death. He rallied an army by freeing the emcampments. He then decided to attack the fortress of Durnholde, home of Aedelas Blackmoore. He succeeded taking the Durnholde fortress and killing Blackmoore with the help of the elements and of course, his orcish army.
