[edit] Year Bermuda included???
"[ The charter] was amended in 1972 to include the new territory of Bermuda. This date is obviously wrong User:Cerddaf 10 July 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 07:18, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I temporarily removed this very POV article pending rewriting. I apologize for not having time to do more on it myself right now. Pcb21 08:57 3 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Whilst I agree the artciule could be added to and increased, as it consists of a recitation of bald facts it is hard to see why Pcb21 regards as "very POV. So I have restored it. No doubt Pcb21 will embellish the article presently Harry Potterr
Uh, conversion, even forcible conversion, is not genocide. There do seem to be a few verifiable facts in amongst the propaganda here though, I'm torn about whether to delete again or just to prune severely. Is it worth my time to figure out whether Harry Potter is using valid sources, or just having some more fun making up stuff? Stan 23:19 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
When a real historian, with a with a background in this period, finally looks at this page, I hope that the nonsense and POV views will be swept away. Until HP and his ilk leave us in peace, one way or another, fact from fantasy live side by side. Which as it happens is HP firm belief. Given that he .. "experience[s] them [fact and fantasy] as an interpenetrating dialectic unity. i.e. we can only comprehend the world through a skein of signification which is culturally constructed and which structures information." [edit] London Company vs Virginia Company
I think this article is actually mashing together the Virginia Company (which included both the Plymouth and London companies) with the just the London Company. It seems the material regarding the charter is about the Virgnia Company (since it includes Popham, who was the head of the Plymouth Company). The general material seems to apply to both. This probably needs sorting out. -- Decumanus 04:40, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I went ahead and differentiated the two, and also switched article to more standard "London Company" to match "Plymouth Company". I delinked Virginia Colony. Although technically true that the area was called "Virginia", at the time this meant the entire coast of north America from Cape Fear to Maine, and is obviously little relation to the material in the article about the Virginia Colony as it stands right now. Such linking should arguably best be done to Virginia Company, where the early history can be described. -- Decumanus
[edit] Year?
The instructions issued to Sir Thomas Gates, on November 20, called for a forcible conversion of Native Americans to Anglicanism and subordination to the colonial administration. But which year? Greetings --172.182.31.232 11:37, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
