The Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal is an award within the Texas Military Forces, within the United States Armed Forces.

The Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal may only awarded to members of the Texas Military Forces or another officially organized state militia.

Typically, members are given this award for exceptional outstanding military achievement or service to the state of Texas in performance of a duty of great responsibility. The Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal is suitable for recognizing a senior commander upon retirement on the basis of outstanding fidelity in lifelong military service over many decades.
