Route 364, branded East London Hoppa began as a partial replacement for the withdrawn route 148 on 20 March 1993 as part of the Ilford area scheme, running between Ilford and Dagenham East Station, with a Monday to Friday peak extension to Dagenham Ford. The route initially run from Barking Garage, using Dennis Dart/Wright Handybus (DW), until September 1995 when the DWs were replaced by Plaxton Pointers. Low floor operation commenced on July 1997 using Dennis Dart SLF / Alexander ALX200s.

Tendering saw Stagecoach loss the contract to First London on 20 July 2002, run from their Rainham Bus Garage using Dennis Dart SLF / Marshall Capitals until new Caetano Nimbus Darts were delivered during February 2003.

The peak journeys to Dageham Fords were withdrawn on 26 June 2004.
