[edit] History

Route 254 began in 2003 to replace the withdrawn section of route 253 between Aldgate tube station and Hackney Central railway station, and shadows the latter as far as Holloway Nag's Head. In fact, the present service formed one of the two separate but overlapping 253 routes.

Route 254 has always been stationed at Arriva London's Stamford Hill garage with Volvo B7TL / Wright Eclipse Gemini (VLW) type double deckers.

Night bus N253 provides the night service for routes 253 and 254 between Aldgate and Euston, harking back to their shared operational history, and then runs on to Tottenham Court Road Station.
