[edit] Summary
The Original Concept. Eric Parein created a 'One-Block' toy building system; here a single element is depicted by him, recto-verso. The concept was called LOKBLOK. It enables the user to easily build into three dimensions, only employing the same safe and solid elements. The hinge connection also enables to swivel connected elements 180 degrees. The four cylindrical parts of the hinges do allow clip-on accessories of all kind, and again these accessories can swivel freely. The LOKBLOK-elements do have no sharp corners anywhere, a great property for a toy product. The space between the cylindrical parts and the base of the element does allow a dedicated tool to easily offset an element from a construction. For the base part a square cavity is chosen, open to one side, allowing to contain or to fit third elements. The elements are big enough not to accidentally swallow it. Very versatile, safe, solid and... affordable educational toy!
