[edit] History
LogiXML was founded in 2000 by Arman Eshraghi, a software development and architecture professional with a special interest in engines. The company's mission was to help software developers create and maintain data-centric Web applications.[1]
The first product developed by LogiXML was LGX AppDev (2000). This was an XML-based engine that built Web applications, and it was soon geared to the specific task of report-building for BI. Although some companies still use LGX AppDev, the product is no longer offered.
In 2002, LogiXML created LGX Report, the first engine-driven, XML-based reporting application. Between 2002 and 2004, more features were added to LGX Report until Eshraghi made the decision to brand the full-featured version separately--as LGX Info--while offering the basic version for free.
Therefore, in 2004, LogiXML began marketing LGX Report as a free Web-based BI reporting tool; the product was more recently renamed Logi Report or Freereporting.com. Like the other applications offered by LogiXML, LGX Report was built on XML technology.[2]
In 2006, LogiXML discontinued the LGX branding and introduced the Logi product line, consisting of applications for ad hoc, managed and OLAP reporting, an embedded database to be used between operational databases and reporting servers, plus a connector pack for integration of commonly-used Web-based sources into the Logi reporting environment.
