SNES - Final Fantasy VI (III US) - South Figaro Scenario Copyright Square 1994

To be used in the Wikipedia article entitled 'Final Fantasy VI'

This image is necessary evidence in speculating that Square's writers may have made a pop-culture reference to the 1977 film "Star Wars IV: A New Hope".

During the scenario when Locke must escape from South Figaro, the player may at some point steal a green soldier's uniform and proceed to wear it through the scene where Celes must be rescued - Upon removing Celes' shackles, she states "You're awfully short for a solider." to which Locke replies "Oh, I forgot I was wearing a uniform!"

This may be attributed to the scene in 'Star Wars VI: A New Hope' where Luke Skywalker rescues Princess Leia from her cell aboard the Death Star; Luke has commandeered a stormtrooper uniform, and upon entering the cell, Leia states "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"

[edit] Fair use in Final Fantasy VI

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. A free equivalent of the image has not been released by Square Enix to the public domain
  2. The image is used informatively to speculate a parallel between dialog in a video game and popular film.
  3. The image is used as visual evidence to the topic due to lack of written sources/transcripts.
  4. The image's usage does not limit or jeopardize Square Enix's ability to profit from sale of the game.
  5. Resolution & quality have been reduced from the original image. (Yet the image is large enough to accommodate users with impaired vision.)
