Lizzy Weiss

Lizzy Weiss is an American screenwriter.
Weiss was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. From an early age she knew that she wanted to be a writer. After graduating from Duke in 1992 with a B.A. in Sociology and Women’s Studies she continued her education and when to NYU and got an M.A. in Communication in 1993.
After she finished her schooling she did odd writing jobs until in 1999 Weiss wrote for the MTV original movie Holding Patterns. This was the first time that she had gotten paid for her writing. Although the movie did not air she was hired again by MTV to write for the TV show Undressed.
While writing for MTV she was given an article called Surf Girls of Maui from Outside Magazine. She wrote a script for a movie that was similar to the article. After John Stockwell was hired to direct Blue Crush, Weiss and Stockwell wrote more drafts and finally it was polished up and ready for a movie. This was Lizzy Weiss’s big break to becoming a known writer.
