The Liverpool Physical Society was founded in 1889. Appointed first President was the University of Liverpool's own Professor of Physics Oliver Lodge.
The society now runs under a student body through the University of Liverpool's Guild of Students. Registered under the name of PhySoc. It is now subtitled the University of Liverpool Physical Society, which maintains the societies original name.
