Liver and onions is a dish that has been a favourite in the UK and some European countries for centuries. In the USA it is currently more common to the southern states than northern or coastal states. It is made of liver (frequently pork or beef liver, though chicken livers are not uncommon), and onions. The meal, which once enjoyed a more widespread popularity in the USA, could usually be found at family diners and American home-style restaurants.
