Live and Learn was one of the final Desmond Dekker songs produced by Leslie Kong before his untimely death at age 38. The song bounces along at a reggae pace as Dekker repeats "The more you live is the more you learn" before doing a medley of his hits such as Sabotage, 007 (Shanty Town), and other hit songs such as "Dancing Mood" and then he does a decent Louis Armstrong impression. This song is interesting because all of the songs, happy or sad are sung over the same flat and depressing reggae with the sort of monotonous sound heard in the "The more you live" refrain. It is an interesting song that may be interpreted in many ways.
