This is the text on the Papal states that I removed from the article. It would do better to add this text there.

I tried to edit this some as the text was a run on. There is too much here. If you wanted you could just add this back in:

...which would endure from 752 (with interruptions in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries) to emerge in its current form as Vatican City.
