Adam, a San Francisco-based artist who works as a cab driver, is having a hard time committing to his girlfriend, Nina, blaming it on the fact that Kate, his ex, left him for another woman. Feeling neglected, Nina breaks up with him and starts seeing Kevin, a womanising bartender and Adam's best friend. Rebecca, the new girl in town, gets a job in Kevin's bar and begins an affair with Anne, the woman Kate left Adam for. When Anne and Kate break up, Kate returns to Adam but soon realises that she's not in love with him anymore. Rebecca soon tires of Anne and breaks off their affair, while Nina and Kevin's fling turns into something deeper, only to have something totally unexpected happen that could threaten everyone's chance at happiness.
