[edit] American War of Independence

In many ways the "American War of Independence" was cold war parlance a Proxy war in the long struggle between England and France. Just because a global superpower may be at war with several different opponents at the same time, it does not mean that the wars are linked and that the opponents are in a close alliance. For this reason I have moved the other wars which Britain was fighting from being viewed as subwars of the "American Revolutionary War" Philip Baird Shearer 22:28, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
