Talk:List of unconfirmed exoplanets

[edit] Incomplete Article

This article is rediciously incomplete. The title says "List of unconfirmed exoplanets" but it barely has any on the list. It seriously needs to be expanded. — Alastor Moody (T + C + U) 06:24, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I added the 'List of possible to confirm exoplanets' section for any postulated planets that are 50% or more likely that'll exist. I also added 56 more planets around 60 more stars. I'll might eventually add more planets to the list or somebody could. There could be as many unconfirmed exoplanets as the current number of confirmed extrasolar planets. [edit] Citations and designations

Can we have some citations on these entries please (ideally, each candidate should have a reference)? For example, the entry for 14 Herculis "d" is uncited. I suspect it comes from various systemic project solutions to the radial velocities of the systems, but bear in mind that the systemic solutions have not been tested against solar rotation, variability, etc. which would allow quick rejection of many parameters. Furthermore, as a site built on user-generated content, most of which has not been scrutinised in depth, the systemic database probably fails the test of reliability.

Also, do NOT assign designations to these candidates unless that designation is used outside the Wikipedia. Since these planets are unconfirmed, they may not have received designations. Making up designations is not the point of an encyclopaedia. Chaos syndrome 14:43, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

There was information in wikipedia article about three-planet model including 14 Herculis d around 14 Herculis until July 28. So I added 14 Herculis d to the list of possible planets in May. BlueEarth 17:01, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Barnard's star

Shouldn't Barnard's star be listed under "disproven candidates"? Serendipodous 06:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes it should, I'll eventually add to disproven list. BlueEarth (talk) 13:29, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
