[edit] Merge?

Given how short this is, and that the primary article is a stub, I think a merge would be a good way to expand the primary article. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Eventually I'll get around to expanding the main article. More importantly, I feel this is slightly to far off-topic for the main article, as to my knowledge, no other river, creek, or stream article has a list of tributaries within them, but I know of at least one that has a seperate article. And I disagree with your thought on expanding an article by merging another. For example, we could make 2005 Atlantic hurricane season huge if we merged all the fishspinners into it. And we could make New York City huge if we merged all the sub-articles into that. Given this is of much higher quality and better referenced than the creek article, I see no reason why it doesn't deserve its own article. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 12:05, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, everything on Wikipedia is bound to be expanded eventually. Wikipedia decisions are made for the now. Certainly it isn't off-topic to mention the tributaries; here is an example (Mississippi River) which lists the major tributaries, and given how long that article is, it makes sense not to list each tributary in detail. The same goes with Larrys Creek, which has 22 tributaries. For Wappinger Creek, it would be appropriate to include this list, since there are only four tributaries. I don't understand your argument about merging, as its whole point is to take the content in a small article and put it into another article. Per your argument about the hurricane season, we always do that with lesser notable storms, such as merging Tropical Storm Jerry (2001) with the 2001 Atlantic hurricane season. This article is of better quality, and I don't see a reason why not to merge it, as it would improve the main article significantly. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:41, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree with merging. Most of the intro is already about the creek itself plus there are only four tributaries. This articles is not going to become "too long" even if merged. Many river articles do in fact have such a list of tributaries as noted above. --Polaron | Talk 15:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I, too, think that only four tributaries can be used to expand the main article. I didn't create a separate list of tributaries of Moodna Creek (on the other side of the Hudson) for that reason. Daniel Case (talk) 14:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
