I thought Germany and the Netherlands produced their oil through rigs in the North Sea too? Joffeloff 18:47, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Netherlands has significant gas and some oil in the North Sea, as well as lots of gas and some oil onshore (including the huge Groningen Gas Field, onshore). Germany has a couple gas fields in the North Sea, and lots of oil and gas onshore - where "lots" is relative - Germany isn't really a major oil-gas producer. --Geologyguy 20:10, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

I know they're not major, I was thinking of their colour on the map. Shouldn't they be orange if they have many oil and gas installations offshore? Joffeloff 20:35, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, I would definitely not consider Germany to be a North Sea producer - two tiny gas fields are a very small proportion of their total production, and none of their oil comes from offshore. As for the Netherlands, this [1] indicates that 44.5 billion cubic meters of their total of 71 bcm of gas comes from ONshore - more than half. I have not found anything that breaks their oil production into onshore vs onshore, but again it is so tiny (under 100,000 barrels per day) I would not think it would be enough to put them in the "North Sea" category with regard to the map. --Geologyguy 20:53, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

A vandal had removed a lot of things back in July. Asia did not get re-added in the repair - I have added it now. Thanks for noticing this. Geologyguy 03:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
