I has been suggested by User:0x845FED that we move the paragraphs at the bottom of the page to a separate article. I strongly support this and would do it myself now if I had the time. Is there any opposition to this idea? John (Jwy) 04:36, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Where would you like to move it to? I wrote the paragraphs, in relation to the given defenition. So could it please be linked to the same in some way. The Mystic - 02:28, 25th June 2006

If there is a section on relations between eastern and western mysticism, and or a wider definition of what mysticism is across and regardless of religions and traditions in the article, that would be fine, as long as the argument doesn’t get side lined into a completely different article - what’s important here is not that I have used the word eastern in the definition, it is ambiguity of the definition in itself. - In that case I would merge it with Mysticism. [[Mystic]], as it is a disambiguation page, should only be to help people find the right page, not include content beyond that. This section of the intro seems to be WP:OR or at best unsourced to me. can it be reviewed and if necessary rewritten or replaced?
- "The primal difference between a mystic and a present day philosopher would be that a mystic works towards spiritual fulfillment where as a present day philosopher in some sense works towards academic recognition, i.e. their motivation for their chosen paths are different. A mystic just as every other thinker, wants to help make a difference in the world, but understands the limitations of language. A true mystic then tries to approach the situation by being mystical and hence truthful to himself in his actions."
For example: is a part of the definition of a mystic that they work towards "spiritual fulfillment"? Is this really "the primal difference" and if so, who says this? Do all mystics by nature intrinsically "want to help make a difference in the world"? What is a "true" mystic, presumably as opposed to an "untrue" one, and who classifies mystics in this way? Is it verifiable to say that a "true mystic" (whatever one of those is) "tries to approach the situation by being mystical"?

This list is ridiculous and offensive. How people could have possibly ended up on this list is shocking to contemplate. It's appalling.
