Article needs to be cleaned up because someone, a newcomer I assume, put a new group of boxers in a very unalphabetical way. I cant do it tonight, I need ome sleep. Antonio Restless Martin

I suggest that ALL red links should be removed and new boxers are not added unless they are notable and a corresponding article is added. DEng 17:44, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

I disagree it encourages other people to edit them. Maya Levy 15:57, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree with Maya about the links. It would nice to keep out obscure boxers but who is to judge what the cutoff point is? Bmcassagne 17:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fictional characters

I erased the Rocky Balboa link. Having fictional characters in this page is sheer ridiculous, who's next Ivan Drago or Balrog from Street Fighter? A page that concerns fictional boxing characters should suit that need. Maya Levy 06:20, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. The world is full of morons and if they look up Rocky Balboa, which is one of the most well known boxer names of all times, and don't find it they will have missed an opportunity to be less of a moron. Isn't that what an encyclopedia is for? The name is clearly indicated as fictional and Rocky is an important icon in American culture. By removing it you are just supressing information. Bmcassagne 17:45, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Supressing information? He's a fictional boxer! If you include Rocky, then theres no limit to fictional boxers to include. That's equivalent to putting Peter Griffin in a list of famous fisherman. Maya Levy 02:57, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On Red Links

A good example of unedited red links is List of Marvel Comics characters. In its infancy, most of the article had a considerable amount of red links and now most of the linking pages have been edited, since. Maya Levy 03:09, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Who is Julio Ceazar Carvajal Jr.?

I looked him up in boxrec, I couldn't find him. Who did he fight? Which weight class? Miss Maya Levy 02:28, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of quality standards/clean up warning

I believe the article has been cleaned up and is among higher standards. Maya Levy 20:13, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nicknames standards

I believe on putting a standard on nicknames for example:

since there is thousands of James Smiths it is very confusing to decipher which James Smith it is, therefore putting the below is appropriate:

However, if the boxer is known professionally and personally as his nickname like, for example Kid Gavilan:

Its unnecessary to put his real first name and last name since he is known as just Kid Gavilan, so the below seems reasonable:

Another situation is fighters who are known alternatively by their nicknames/realnames I'll give several examples:

The two 100% changable ones are Thomas Hearns, because he is well known with just his first and last name, and Sugar Ramos because he is known by his nickname and last name . However Winky and McGirt can arguably be converted as they are alternatively known as both their nicknames and last names. Therefore the below should be:

[edit] New standards on Red links

I beleive the cutoff line should be if the fighter has any boxrec hits. Maya Levy talk 17:21, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Potential deletion of this list

I think this list is possibly to big and unmanagable. I propose its deletion as it would be more suited and useful as a Category for a list.--Vintagekits (talk) 12:20, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
