[edit] Separation

I think we need a separate list on examples of heroic stock characters. There are so many great examples that people will just keep adding to the list, but eventually it will need its own. ætərnal ðrAعon 10:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What about loners?

It would overlap some, but what about loner characters? People who aren't really shunned, but aren't really ignored by society? It's really common in animes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heero Kirashami (talkcontribs) 01:29, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Isn´t it the same as Outsider? - 201.19.73.37 (talk) 00:08, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reliability

Is this list backed by some sort of discipline, a body of knowledge or is it more like an anyone-can-add-an-item-list? I was thinking if I should add an example, namely Siegfried Schtauffen and where it would fit, but I didn´t find here a discussion that looked like based on something real.

[edit] Too many examples

This article is becoming too much of a dumping ground for everyone's favorite characters. Certainly there are millions of characters in fiction who exemplify each stock stereotype, but I think it's more informative to list just a few widely popular references who best exemplify the archetype. However, I think it would be great if this article is referenced on the pages of the characters themselves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Misopogon (talkcontribs) 14:52, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Frodo, not Gandalf

I was under the impression that Frodo was the Christ figure in Lord of the Rings, not Gandalf. If one reads the description of what a Christ figure is, Frodo fits the bill much better than Gandalf. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.35.5.110 (talk) 05:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Frodo would more accurately fit the description of "The Reluctant Hero". Gandalf more accurately fits "The Christ Figure" because he was resurrected, in a way, much like Christ. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamawikiuser (talk • contribs) 08:30, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
