I'm removing external links and redlinks from the list. Of the ones that may be notable, I may come back and create stubs for them. Marasmusine 15:34, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Requested move

What is the reason for the title of this article? "Computer" is redundant, as "video game" includes computer games. "Video" itself is redundant, as "fighting game" is really only used to refer to fighting video games. There are no fighting board games (that I know of), and professional fighting is possible one of the only sports that doesn't refer to matches as "games". So the title of this article is long and redundant. I propose "List of Fighting Games", or if a long title is really necessary, perhaps "List of Versus and Scrolling Fighting Games" or some other useful title. JohnnyMrNinja 11:04, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

This article has been renamed from List of computer and video fighting games to List of fighting games as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 05:57, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Misc. section is excessive

I have been trying to organize this list and clean it up, but I don't see the Misc. section as fitting in with the idea of a "list". This seems to be information about possible features for versus fighters, which should be in a main article. I also am not fond of a Misc. section in general, as all information can be categorized. More to the point, even if this section could be brought to fit within the "list" format, the information itself seems excessive and confusing. I just don't feel that dividing games up by these features would be useful or helpful, or even interesting to readers.

I am very new to WP and don't like the idea of deleting anyone's work (and for now I will just leave it), but does anyone have any suggestions? JohnnyMrNinja 01:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC) Deleted the section. ~ JohnnyMrNinja {talk} 20:50, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] and so we come full circle.

Ha! This article was originally broken off from "list of beam 'em ups", which was subsequently deleted, and now beat 'em ups have been added to this list. Wikipedia is such a wonderful mess sometimes. :) Luvcraft 19:45, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List format and homebrew games

List is becoming a pain in the ass to read and modify. Maybe a new format should be introduced? Like a table listing with additional columns (publisher, year of release).

Also since Homebrew category was removed from list, where should free games go? Little Fighter series spawned a very popular in Hong Kong Little Fighter Online, which is even mentioned in Wiki, though the previous games aren't. Neoforma 16:30, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Added Ballz

I added the best fighting game ever to the list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.106.170.212 (talk) 22:34, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Smash Bros.

I'd say Smash Bros is a versus or 4-way fighter, but not a beat-em-up. Only the adventure modes would really be beat-em-ups, so it's more of a game with beat-em-up elements. I deleted it from the 2.5D section and added it to the "with beat-em-up elements" section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Headcase88 (talkcontribs) 01:26, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

  • er, "Games with beat 'em up sections" to be exact (thanks SineBot!)--Headcase (talk) 01:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
