[edit] Saw 2 gas

I'm not sure and can't cite any sources, but I belive the nerve gas in Saw 2 was supposed to be sarin. 72.175.41.175 (talk) 02:12, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] F.E.V. Virus

Hello,

I was wondering if the Forced Evolutionary Virus from the Fallout (series) (Responsible for creating the Super Mutant Army, mutating the Master and some other events crucial to the games' plot) was deliberately left out. I looked into other pages but couldn't find it in any listing pertaining to 'Fictional Diseases' or viruses. If it is indeed needed, I'll be glad to add it.

Thanks, --Max Coyote 16:12, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] When should we list it?

Heya.

I wanted to discuss when we should or shouldn't add a fictional toxin or mutagen in this list. My idea is that we only list a fictional toxin when it's primary use or property is poisoning or mutating living organisms.

Does that include chemicals that create zombies? Teflon Don 21:50, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Chemicals, yes. Viruses, no.

I agree that viruses should be included in List of fictional diseases. Tavilis 14:13, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to suggest that if the mutagenic side effect massively outstrips the medical (or other) benefit it make the list. From that principle I added Pax from Serenity (film). Spice from Dune (novel) is mutagenic, but far to useful to qualify for the list. Novangelis 00:28, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] T-Virus

I removed the T-Virus from the list. The T-Virus is an engeneered disease, not a toxin, it belongs in the "Engineered diseases" section of the List of fictional diseases.

[edit] DDT?

I don't get this entry.

DDT is an exhisting pesticide, known under the names 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane and dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane and not (4,4'-(2,2,2-trichloroethane-1,1-diyl)bis(chlorobenzene). The listed DDT internal link goes to the non-fictional DDT-wiki, and the listed source, Paul Hermann Müller, is a non-fictional chemist who discovered the non-fictional DDT. Furthermore, DDT is said to help against barbituate-poisoning when ingested and is said to be non-toxic for humans and primates.

I'll remove the DDT entry, but I invite whomever added the entry to find/state the proper Fantasy/Sci-Fi referrence wherein DDT is used as you described.

Also, it might be possible that this entry about DDT fits better in the list of fictional applications of real materials.

[edit] The Spice Melange

Should there be a listing under mutagens for the Spice from Dune? The Spacing Guild Navigators are completely altered by long-term use of the Spice, to the point they no longer resemble humans. --YoungFreud 20:20, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Good question. It is already listed in the List of fictional medicines and drugs and it's primary use is for astrogation, not for mutation (which is considered a side-effect in the Dune-universe). I don't know at the moment.
Greets,
-Maverick Hunter Styx 07:51, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
The reason I ask is because there are items on both lists that have a legitmate medicinal value, like Ephemerol in Scanners, in which an unintended mutagenic side effect.--YoungFreud 04:23, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Hell, why not. The list could use some beefing up. ;)

I don't think the Guild Navigators are altered only by spice consumption. I think they're altered by genetic engineering, surgery, and spice consumption, with the spice not being the main agent of alteration. Navigators are not born human - they're basically artificial constructions starting from before conception - and human long-term spice users don't end up turning into Navigators. 67.158.75.219 03:44, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chemical Z

Insert non-formatted text hereI think that the chemical know in PPGZ as Chemical Z should be mentioned in this article. It is a almost like Chemical X you know.

[edit] Dreken Venom

can somebody please tell me where this is from? All Google searches lead back to here, therefore this does not seem verifiable. Dragontrapper 00:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Terrible grammar

The grammar in this page sucks. Someone fix it up before some n00b confuses it with proper English. 209.121.8.96 03:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Heya, this is Styx. It's been a long time since I've been here (lost my login). Just wanna say that I'm not a native English-speaker. I do my best to write these articles as correct as high-school has taught me, so I'm terribly sorry for any broken english on my account. So if anyone could re-write this article, I'd be a happy camper.

[edit] Deletion

I think this article should be deleted. It has absolutely no point. Why would anyone need a list of all fictional toxins? I can't think of a situation. If someone wanted information on a specific toxin they would instead check the page of where it is featured (i.e., if someone was looking for Phazon, they would search Metroid Prime). This is just a collection of information easily obtainable otherwise throughout wikipedia that is not necessary. 24.15.53.225 22:47, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Please do NOT delete this fine page. Wikipedia is one of my most favorite places to read material. I found this article quite enjoyable. Who cares if it doesn't have practical use. Can't an article be entertaining, and if so, why delete it? I think I speak for EVERYONE when I say this page should STAY!

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.175.235.41 (talk) 09:07, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Entry removed

I deleted "Ghost Gas" as I could not find a source for it. This may be too obscure.Novangelis 00:27, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Same thing goes for Plasmids: this one should be moved to the "Fictonal uses of real materals". I've also removed Fuel Gel. It doesn't mutate creatures; the creatures have evolved naturally due to having fuel gel in their environments. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.58.72.218 (talk) 18:53, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
