[edit] SimCity - Dr. Wright

I put "dubious" next to Dr. Wright's entry because the classic game SimCity has no characters. It's a variation on the game "Mayor" where the player only builds city infrastructure. Perhaps someone here is referencing The Sims? If so, this should be corrected. StudierMalMarburg 19:24, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

It was in the Snes version of the game only, not in the PC version. He was an advisor who offered in-game tips.63.87.129.138 (talk) 18:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] This LIST is inadequate, un-researched and missing far to many characters to be a serious list!

It a stupid article and should be deleted as a ridiculous wast.--Amadscientist 05:51, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Under Planet of the Apes it only listed Dr. Zaius. Under The Rocky Horror Picture Show it incorrectly list Dr. Von Scott. While I changed those it still makes no since to list Frankenstein in Literature but not film. I could go on but what I realy want to know is how soon before it can be relisted for deletion?--Amadscientist 05:59, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Allow me to respond to your criticism. I am not the original author of this list but have been working on organizing it for some time now. Granted, it is incomplete, but that is why others are invited to contribute, as you did to Planet of the Apes. Rather than rant about the incompletness of some films, why not work to make it complete? This list was actually in attrocious shape before I started working with it, but even then it was nominated for deletion (as you can see if you had looked above) and the consensus was KEEP. While many films have been thoroughly researched, other original entries -- like Planet of the Apes -- haven't yet been expanded upon, but then again, people like you can help. Therefore, instead of criticizing other users for their work, why not jump in and help make it better. ....One more thing, in criticizing Frankenstein, you are displaying your literary ignorance. In Mary Shelly's novel, Baron Victor Frankenstein is a student, not a doctor. I left it in the list out of respect for the original author of the list, and because many people who've never read the book actually believe he was a doctor. However, in lieu of your demand for accuracy, it has been removed. In the 1931 film, which I have added to the list, he was portrayed as a doctor -- Dr. Henry Frankenstein.StudierMalMarburg 14:39, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
While obviously I did see the above tag I wanted to know how long I have to wait before renominating it. The problem with this. Don't jump to conclusions. I simple asked why you even listed Frankenstien in literature but not in film. I have never been able to get past the first page of the Book which I own. Mary Shelly time was and style of writng was difficult for me to read. You just proved how innaccurate the page is for ridiculouse reason.--Amadscientist 01:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Renominating the article is an exercise in futility. Just go back in the history link and look at how the list looked at the time of its last nomination. It's been remarkably improved since then. If the consensus then was to keep that list, then this one will certainly pass. And once again, I don't understand your continual harping about the list's incompleteness. Of course it's incomplete. I've never seen an encylcopedia list -- even in Britannica -- that wasn't incomplete. That's why users here can continually add and make it better. StudierMalMarburg 14:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
No actually second nominations are generally when article are finally deleted because people have had time to see how worthless something is. But in this case as long as the history shows that people have been attempting to work on it then maybe it would still be voted as a keep. I don't know there is an awful lot needed to be done and I'm not sure it's really worth it.--Amadscientist 22:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

While I don't like the list, I am attempting to update it and make it more accurate.--Amadscientist 01:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I found this list [1] which may help editors to find more films to list here. It is not complete either but is still a good source.--Amadscientist 01:44, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Doctor in the House

To make it a bit less American will add Doctor in the House (novel/film/TV) and Shortland St (NZ TV) - but will just add one doctor from each, to save my time! Hugo999 11:50, 14 August 2007 (UTC) PS: Dr Strangelove is not a medical doctor; he is a physicist. (cf Baron Frankenstein) Hugo999 12:16, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Doctors in multiple series

Dr. Samantha Carter is a primary character in both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Hould she be in both lists? Or can someone adjust the lists so there is an "overlap" in the list? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 23:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
