ok someone edited my perfectly legitimite contribution i divided up the list into continents rather than countries and someone put it back int othe mess it was before, somebody should explain

i accept your apology, also i would like to bring up that specific organizations shouldnt be added, just the general ethnic group associated with that organization for example 14k triad is not listed or any triad group triads as a whole is listed, please dont list specific organizations or clans i think it would help this article

everyone editing this page please do not post individual gangs or organizations, clans etc this page is for gangs as a whole as you can see only Triads are listed here, we dont list every individual triad gang like 14k. as you can see mafia is listed here but we dont list the individual mafia groups people STOP PUTTING INDIVIDUAL GANGS HERE IT CONFUSES THE SUBJECT MATTER.

as long as the gangs are sufficiently notable, i don't have a problem with it. for example, the Medellín Cartel and the Cali Cartel seem to be fairly notable, based on their wikipedia entries, so I wouldn't have a problem with them being included as examples of Columbian drug cartels. 72.36.251.234 04:38, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

guys first of all i want to make a note of this, there is no such thing as a french or english mafia, both countries are hosts to "xenoethnic" mafias so i am removing this, 2nd of all i am getting rid of individual gang listings thats not what the list is for, its for designating criminal organizations as a whole, as you can see every italian mafia family isnt listed, eg: you dont see gambino crime family here, this page is soley for designating organizations as a whole, why do i have to keep repeapting my self.

If this article is about organized crime then what the hell are the CV, Yardies (generally), Crips, Bloods, Mara Salvatrucha, Mara 18 etc. doing on here?? These are street gangs. So is the Amigos whatever-the-name-is of Brazil.

For Brazilian organized crime the PCC is the way to go, they're very different from poor kids who hang out in the favela like Amigos and CV. You only have to look at their highly orchestrated campaign of terror in Sao Paulo a few months back.

The 'typical' yardie gang is again a bunch of ill-disciplined, unemployed young men who live in the ghetto. Serbitar 13:03, 1 Dec 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Yardies?

Um, where are the Yardies and KKK? These are both criminal organizations which have long been associated to drug trafficking, arms dealing and other gang-related violence. Piecraft 16:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC) Also I noticed there is no Turkish Mafia listed, which has major control over Turkey.

I'm not convinced that the Yardies qualify as an organization in any meaningful sense. Nor is the purview of the KKK crimminal as such- profit is not their primary motivation.

i would like to see some sources for "nigerian criminal enterprises" i have never heard of it, and i doubt that most people have. and if they can be added here, why dont we just add a sierra leonese crimanal enterprises or a cameroon mafia. you back up your nigerian mafia, and ill stop deleting it, and i am probably not the only one deleting it either.

I created a whole new article on Nigerian gangs. With sources. So there.

I've come to the conclusion this list needs to be re-edited to not sort the gangs by location, since this there are too many repeats of the same organization. For example Russian mafia features worldwide. Thoughts??

What exactly qualifies as a Criminal Organization should be more throughly discussed, Organization isn't necessary to be a criminal organization, Nor is it a qualifying factor, Being motivated by money also isn't necessary to be a criminal organization, The KKK, Vice Lords, MS-13, etc. are all Criminal Organizations. There are numerous Hacking groups which are 'criminal' organizations, There are Southeastern Asia piracy gangs as well as in Northern Africa. It sounds like this page doesn't seem to refer to smaller, more localized gangs, but I think it needs to have Kurdish Pride, KP put on the list, specifically because it is the Kurd's only street gang in the US.
