Talk:List of cover versions N-Z

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is a partial move from list of notable cover versions, which was split up when it became too large to edit safely. See that article for the edit history prior to the move. --HappyDog 14:57, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • I really think "Red Rubber Ball" should be removed. Simon and Garfunkel never did a studio recording of the song, and so the Cyrkle's version is really the "original" (even though Paul Simon co-wrote the song). Bjimba 14:55, 2005 Feb 1 (UTC)

First off, there are some Me First and the Gimme Gimmes covers mentioned, but not all.

And secondly, in this vein, is the aim of this article to become comprehensive? If so, it should have laid out guidelines.

For example, many bands cover songs live as part of their set but never record the cover, or only have recordings as part of live albums.

I propose that for an song to be featured in this list, it should be a released studio recording (ie. off a major label album release with rwitting credit going to the original artist).

I would suggest that bonus tracks aren't included.

I am happy to dedicate some time over the coming weeks to confirming songs that are viable to for the list (using Amazon.com or a similar site for refferance, in the most part).

However, this is a suggestion that the powers that be aren't happy with, but I think it could turn it to a good article that would be easier to expand upon in future.
