Some of the entries in this list don't appear to fit the criteria established in the opening paragraph, because the operative word is 'series', which implies some sort of continuity. I'm unaware of anything we commonly think of as a film series (unless you include serials) for the characters Billy the Kid, Cleopatra, Jesse James, King Arthur, Robin Hood, and Wyatt Earp. These names have been involved in television series-- though Cleopatra is not the famous historical figure. If totally unrelated films using the same historical figure are going to be considered as series, this collection is going to become even more misleading than it is.
