Talk:List of authors opposing cults
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page was originally created following the model of "List of politicians opposing cults". On that list, which was also originally part of List of cult and new religious movement researchers, were people who had looked into, or studied in some manner, cults / new religious movements, and afterward either written about them or participated in some legislation affecting them. There are authors who have done something quite similar, but did not ever do any empirical study of the cults/NRMs, and so shouldn't be called "researchers". This page is for them. -DoctorW 07:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for creating this list. Smeelgova 14:09, 17 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Book category
Why should this article be listed under Category:Cult related books? That category is for books, Category:Cult related lists|Authors is for authors. Just because it's relevant to the category doesn't mean it should be classified under it. Sfacets 06:14, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Why not? It is tightly relevant to the category? What is your reasoning for not classifying it there? I am curious. Smee 06:32, 26 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] General topic
I notice that a few authors listed here are not generally critical of "cults", rather of specific organizations they perceive to be cults (eg Scientology). This is a list for authors opposing "cults" - it is POV to claim that any organization is a cult based solely on a personal whim. Sfacets 12:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
