Talk:List of RIAA member labels
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Who made this list? Shouldn't it be rechecked "a bit" for wrong links? warpozio 10:33, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Some of the wrong links have been cleaned up but this list is still a nightmare. The original article is just a dump of the list from RIAA.com with every label name blindly linked. There's not even enough information in the source list to resolve some of the abiguities. For example: One of the labels in the source list is "Perspective". I assume this refers to Perspective Records, now defunct, but there's also a Perspective Music label out there. Is there any way to know which one belongs on this list without doing some original research? --squirrel 14:22, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Besides the wrong links, the RIAA has a reputation for claiming "members" who never joined the RIAA and may not support them at all. A list of members from the RIAA itself may not be reliable. --Reuben 09:46, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lets ask RIAA-Radar
Perhaps we could email RIAA-Radar and ask if we can use their list. Their list is probably almost 100% accurate, and is certainly better than the RIAA's list. The only thing is it may mean wiping the current list and replacing it with RIAA-Radar's data. Plus they'd need to say yes. Comments welcome! --h2g2bob 01:34, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think emphasizing the big four is enough. (Main members)
- I disagree. I originally used this list to ensure that any Album I was about to buy was not produced by a RIAA label. I now use RIAA-Radar for this information. I think it's important that this list be a resource that expands on the information from the Radar. -Garret —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.233.135.97 (talk) 18:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC).
The RIAA has updated their website as of May 19th, so this entire page needs to be expanded massively.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.138.130.211 (talk) 22:58, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Removal
I'm going to remove Fat Wreck Chords as they claim to not be member but still being on the list. As I can only adjust Wiki, and I made the action clear anyone can replace it if they have a justified reason to do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomvasseur (talk • contribs) 20:32, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] I reorganized the page...
I reorganized the page and tweaked the language. I moved the Big Four to the top. The main list at the top of the page was of labels that were mistakenly listed as members of the RIAA, but were apparently not members. Read the footnotes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tkarches (talk • contribs) 18:06, 29 March 2007 (UTC).
[edit] OR
This list looks like WP:SOAPy original research. Cool Hand Luke 06:13, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
