Pete, I know you got rid of the size override, but the guideline allows for exceptions. I think due to the nature of this article where the pictures are decorative and meant to be unintrusive, keeping them small and out of the way is a better option. I know editors have prefernces, but most readers are not editors, thus their default size I believe is 180, and with the small space dedicated to the images I think 180 is way too big.
