Talk:List of Missouri county name etymologies

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article for Nodaway County, Missouri gives the etymology as 'a name of uncertain Potawatomi term for "placid" although it has also been suggested it means "crossed without a canoe."' The 'placid' etymology comes from Robert L. Ramsay, who is the standard place-name authority of Missouri. Which is correct, and what is the reference? --Marcusscotus1 19:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the gentle nudge. I have added an etymology section on Nodaway River. Americasroof 17:21, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
