- In John Birmingham's Axis of Time trilogy, an international task force of vessels in Indonesian waters accidentally time travels back from 2021 to 1942.
- In the novelization of Star Trek: First Contact, the Indonesian Space Agency is a major organization in 2053, after World War III.
- John Brunner's Stand on Zanzibar (1968) has the fictional country of Yatakang (a disguised Indonesia) in 2010 as a setting.
- Lucius Shepard's 1990 novella, Kalimantan, is set in Borneo.

There should be a Wikipedia article on Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani and his wife, two South Asians and alleged "perfume moguls" who kept two Indonesian women as slaves in their Long Island, New York, home. RahadyanS 14:25, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
