I just decided to add a bunch of stuff to this article. I used Governor of California as my basis and worked from there. Ajbenj 17:49, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

It looks like this article has been vandalized with silly or inaccurate content. For instance, former Governor A. C. Gibbs is listed as "A. C. poop", and the governor's term is listed for "90000000 years". Lastly, another silly vandalism is "Oregon's goveners are cool. Most of them are republicans!". This article should be reverted and/or re-edited with correct information. questionlp 19:18 31 October 2006 US/Pacific.

[edit] Proposal to split article

This article has ceased to be a "list." Unless there is some objection, I'll plan on moving all content other than the list of names and dates of service to a new article, Governor of Oregon, which will be organized and expanded as an article on the office. (At the very least, the article should be renamed.) -- J-M Jgilhousen 23:11, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Agree I was wondering about this myself but was too lazy to do anything about it. Katr67 23:28, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Done. -- "J-M" (Jgilhousen) 23:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No more photos

Please do not add any more photos unless you know for certain that they are free. Non-free images may not be used in lists per WP:NONFREE#Unacceptable uses. nadav (talk) 07:28, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Are photos used elsewhere in Wikipedia, such as the articles about the individual govenors, legitimate?--Pete Jacobsen (talk) 17:52, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Pete: If they're not free or public domain, then no. In a nutshell, this is how Wikipedia interprets copyright law: for copyrighted/non-free images, they may be used as "fair use" only under very specific conditions. One of those conditions is that they are used to identify the primary subject of an article. Thus, there may well be pictures of individual governors that can be used on that governor's article, but nowhere else in Wikipedia. Hope that makes sense! If you're interested in trying to make this situation a little less ridiculous, check out my page User:Peteforsyth/leg. That project has been kinda dormant for several months, but I'm thinking it's time to get something done (with all this new free time on my hands!) -Pete (talk) 19:54, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:HallJohnH.png

Image:HallJohnH.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
