[edit] Scope of the article

I have flagged this article as off-topic because it is entitled "List of medium wave transmitters in Germany" but does not seem to be exhaustive, and also contains details of foreign transmitters receivable in Germany. As currently written the article could more accurately be entitled "List of medium wave transmitters receivable in Germany (by a listener or listeners unknown)".

As a MW-DXer in England the information is obviously of interest to me and others like me, but would be more useful to a wider readership if it consisted solely of transmitters that are situated in Germany. As a log of transmitters from abroad, it is not detailed enough - no account is taken of the time of day; many more transmitters are receivable at night. Neither is there consideration of geographical location - a listener on the North Sea coast can probably pick up local broadcasts from the east coast of England during daytime, while a listener in south-east Germany has a much better chance of hearing broadcasts from the Balkan countries than his compatriots near the Dutch border will have.

Therefore I propose that, if the article is to remain, the table should be amended to contain every German MW transmitter and none from outside of Germany. It may also be appropriate to include broadcasts of "ordinary programmes" such as Radio Luxemburg, transmitted from outside of Germany, but I think the likes of Stimme Rüsslands would be out of scope. The article could certainly do with a lot of cleaning up (and remains noticeably German-centred), but I have removed the off-topic tag, the title having been changed to "List of European medium wave transmitters" on 4 October 2006. -- Picapica (talk) 18:52, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
