India should not be mentioned as being in personal union with Great Britain because it was a British colony, not a sovereign state, and therefore its relationship to England through a common monarch cannot be called a personal union in the sense that Scotland was in personal union with England from 1603 to 1707 or Ireland was in personal union with England from 1541 to 1800. India was in personal union upon it independence, which is what the article states, until it became a republic.208.138.38.88 19:48, 2 September 2006 (UTC)


[edit] Corsica

I didn't realise that we were ever in personal union with Corsica, is this a mistake - don't suppose anybody would mind clarifying this for me? --MC (talk) 16:50, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
