List of dwarf planet candidates

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At present, the International Astronomical Union categorises three objects in the Solar System as dwarf planets: Ceres, Pluto, and Eris. In addition, the asteroids 4 Vesta, 2 Pallas and 10 Hygiea, as well as Pluto's moon Charon, have been identified as possible candidates. There are also an increasing number of potential candidates in the Kuiper belt and beyond.[1] There are about 70 candidates now, but it is possible that this number will increase to up to 2000.

The following is a list of several Trans-Neptunian objects that may qualify as dwarf planets since they exhibit a diameter of at least 400km.
