List of Canadian Royal Commissions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an incomplete list of Royal Commissions appointed by the Sovereign in Right of Canada. Royal Commissions have been held in Canada since Confederation; they usually consist of a panel of experts appointed by the Governor-in-Council to carry out full investigations of specific national problems. When the investigation is complete, the findings of the commission are reported to the Cabinet for appropriate action.[1] The Crown in right of each province can also appoint a Royal Commission, although they are not included in this list.

Since 1867, Canada has had over 200 Royal Commissions. These commissions are searchable in the index to Federal Royal Commissions.
