Lisneal College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lisneal College is a controlled secondary school located in Derry, Northern Ireland. It is within the Western Education and Library Board area. The current headmaster is David Funtson, although true control lies with an emminent group of doctors, professors and business studies teachers known as Senior Management. This group is competing for control of the college and, if the WELB budget allows, eventual control of the country.
At £12m after large budget cuts, the school will be the biggest investment in Derry's controlled sector in 40 years and will also cater for, the local community. Work started on the building of the state-of-the-art Lisneal College in June 2005 on a 22 acre site which was the most largest and recent undertaken by the WELB in a number of years. It is a controlled post-primary school sited on the Crescent Link, Derry near the local hospital. It was established as a result of a controversial amalgamation of Clondermott High School and Faughan Valley High School. The school, which caters for nearly a 1000 pupils was recently opened to its pupils and the public in September 2007.
