Lisa O'Hare

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lisa O'Hare is an English stage actress who is currently portraying Eliza Doolittle in a US Tour of My Fair Lady from September 12, 2007 to June 22, 2008.[1] She had previously portrayed that role in the 2005 UK National Tour of the musical to critical acclaim, serving as the stand-by for Amy Nuttall.

O'Hare was trained as a ballet dancer, and performed in dance-oriented shows such as Alice and the Others at Sadler's Wells and Defile at the Royal Opera House. Moving to musical theatre, O'Hare starred as the title role of West End's Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre. She had been part of the show's original ensemble, in which she understudied for the original Mary Poppins, Laura Michelle Kelly. On November 6, 2006 she officially took over from Scarlett Strallen, becoming the third actress to hold the West End title role. Her last performance on the show was on May 19, 2007. During her run, she acted on-stage with her real-life boyfriend Howard Jones, who played the role of Robertson Ay.

It has been announced that Lisa will reprise her role as Mary Poppins in the upcoming National UK Tour of Disney's Mary Poppins sometime after her stint in the US Tour of My Fair Lady[citation needed]. She will assume the role on October 27th 2008 at the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre, replacing Caroline Sheen and will remain with the Tour until it's final performance on April 18th 2009 at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
