Lios is a fictional character in the .hack franchise from the first quartet of the .hack//Games
In the game's he is a system administrator that is attempting to solve the troubles that The World begins to Encounter. His Avatar resembles that of NPC Store Merchant you find in the root towns.
Lios is the word for the Kingdom of Light used in the Epitaph of Twilight. This is where the codename for the server administrator of The World comes from, though Lios was oblivious to this fact. His character name also derives from Germanic mythology

Little is known about Lios other than he is an Administrator. He first appears after a mysterious E-mail is sent to Kite asking him to come to a field in the Theta Server. When Kite warps in, he finds the area is completely blank, leaving him and BlackRose confused. Suddenly several men - all Administrators - appear above them. Lios reveals & introduces himself and tells Kite his character data is illegal and that he will be deleted. Right as he attempts to, Helba interrupts, and convinces him to not delete Kite until he's learned more about the bracelet.

In an interview with the game music composers, they we're told by the game director that Helba and Lios were actually married (Which would explain why they have the same music theme) Lios is King of the Light while Helba is Queen of the Dark according the Japanese Version of the Epitaph of Twilight
